5 built to fly record volumes of cargo from California to Hawaii. Served in the navy until 1956, then the 4 remaining bought and converted in Canada to fire bombers. Able to cover 4 acres per water drop. So good they got a 20 day contract to fight the fires in Mexico and finished it in 15 days. Have a demo with a scooping pass and a water drop at the end.

Nothing is more beautiful and noble than the bittersweet story of the flying boat in aviation history. The fact that these Mars still live and work in the sky decades after their birth is a testament to the men that designed them. Raise a glass to the Glenn Martin company for every plane of theirs that that ever took wing over the Chesapeake Bay.
